in my quest to figure out the path i want to follow i have chosen to travel down and egyptian road i have chosen to extensively research thoth and Ma'at as my god and goddess figure of this beautiful culture. thoth wsa the god of writing music and science and was also known the be a judge of the dead before Ma'at was to judge the person with a feather weighing their misgivings against the feather determining where they were to go in the afterlife. it has also been said that he was the one who actually gave ra, god of sun a voice and allowed him to be transcribed into english and understandable language he has also been likened as the mind of god as as one of the two dieties that stood on ra's boat (the other being Ma'at) thoth has been known to be seen as a man with the head of a full ibis. he is also known by jehuti dhjeuti tehuti zehuti tecu and many other names too numerous to list. Ma'at is known as the goddess of balance truth and order as was said before she was a keeper of the after life and was able to way the misgivings of the dead with a feather and able to judge where they went in the afterlife. she was harmony, Ma'at literally means truth in egyptian. people thought that without order in the world everything would be chaos if ma'at didnt exist so they held true reverence in her more so than thoth, ma'at was the personification of order in the universe without which all of creation would fall to chaos, at any event that was to be judged ma'at was said to be there and was envoked to bless the judge so as to allow him to judge impartially and fairly in anything he foresaw, in the underworld the hearts of the dead were weighed by anubis against ma'ats feather if the heart was full of wicked seeds it would be fed to ammit if not then it would be send to osiris in the blessed land ma'at's presence in all worlds is universal all gods deffered to her. i believe these are the two main gods in the egyptian pantheon in my eyes and they are the ones that restore order and allow us all to live in the peace and harmony we live every day.
